On the missing Malaysian airplane and .....

conviction of Malaysian opposition leader on sodomy charges. Not even remotely related other than that both stories have "Malaysia" in the title.
Also, according to some reports, out of the 230 passengers, the plane was carrying 160 Chinese nationals.

Richard Shears and Lizzie Parry writing at DailyMailUK:
....Search called off for missing Boeing 777 as it is emerges that two people on board were using STOLEN PASSPORTS.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur at 12.21am
Vietnamese Navy detected emergency signal 153 miles out to sea
Flight MH370 declared missing nearly 90 minutes after it was due to land
Malaysian Transport Minister said 'no crash site has been found'
227 passengers and 12 crew were from 14 different countries including Malaysia, China, U.S., France, Canada, and Australia
Three Americans, including a baby, feared dead
Two passengers believed to have been travelling on a stolen passports
Aviation expert Chris Yates said the aircraft will not have been carrying enough fuel to still be flying and 'will have crashed'
He said the investigation will look at two areas, the maintenance of the aircraft and possible terrorism
Vietnamese air force spot two oil slicks suspected to be from the wreckage.....

And, in other news to do with Malaysia:

From USGovt:
....Conviction of Malaysian Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim
The United States has followed the trial of Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim closely. The Court of Appeal overturned his acquittal by the High Court on March 7. Mr. Anwar was sentenced to five years in prison, and the court released him on bail until appeals are exhausted.

The decision to prosecute Mr. Anwar and his trial have raised a number of concerns regarding the rule of law and the independence of the courts. In this high-profile case, it is critical for Malaysia to apply the rule of law fairly, transparently, and apolitically in order to promote confidence in Malaysia’s democracy and judiciary.

The United States and Malaysia have a strong partnership and in the spirit of that relationship, U.S. officials on many occasions have raised with the Government of Malaysia our concerns about the trial of Mr. Anwar. We will continue to follow the case closely........

  1. It would be a safe bet to wager that two Muslims took the plane down.
Yes, I know, I am an ignorant racist bigot.
If I am wrong, I will donate $20 to the local Animal Shelter.

    1. On this one, we will have to wait and see. 99.99% an explosion took down the plane otherwise there would have been at least a few seconds of radio contact, if a malfunction.
Baffling is the thing about the stolen passports. I was always under the impression that when you report a stolen passport, that passport's info would be circulated to all corners of the transportation world. Guess I was giving more credit to the powers-that-be than they desire.
Another thing to ponder on... the two on board with stolen passports were probably men who didn't have Chinese or Asian features.

    2. If the Vietnamese Navy picked up a distress signal and if it came from the missing aircraft then this points to an electrical failure in the plane. The life rafts and the aircraft itself have emergency radio transmitters that are battery powered by batteries in the transmitter unrelated to the aircraft power system. There is no mention of the transponder therefore I assume the aircrafts altitude was lost rapidly indicating a catastrophic failure in the airframe. It is possible that the aircraft encountered an unusually strong microburst that may have caused the aircraft to exceed its red line speed (maximum structural velocity) and caused loss of a wing or stabilizer. This kind of damage likely would take out the aircraft electrical system. But in any case if this kind of damage occurred that last thing the crew would do is make a radio call.

    3. I haven't read about the distress signal only that there is some indication from a satellite footage that perhaps a "return move" was being made.
And, if the altitude was lost like a stone dropping, then wouldn't there have been bigger parts of the plane to be found as the frame would have no time to break into too many parts before hitting the water. The missing plane parts seem to suggest a bomb on board and disintegration into tiny parts before hitting the water.
Too much mystery about this one. the other nagging doubt that the two with the stolen passports might not have been the "terrorists" is because they had booked their flights onward from Beijing to 2 other spots in EU. One was going to Copenhagen and the other to Amsterdam (if I remember right) ... I am beginning to think the two using the stolen passports were men trying to enter illegally in EU ... but they were taking a chance if doing that because EU airports, hopefully, check the FBI database.
Oh well ... we will have to wait and see what those in power choose to tell us if and when.

  2. They could very well have Asian features, and since they all look alike(lol), the passports would pass though it is more likely a skilled forger replaced the pictures. But there are Asian Mulsims who resort to terror like the gang who went slashing civilians at a Chinese rail station(at least I think it was a Chinese rail station)

    1. Do you think that with names like these on the passports:

      quote
An Austrian, named in reports as Christian Kozel, had his passport pinched in Thailand in 2012, while Italian Luigi Maraldi, 37, had his stolen last year, also in Thailand, officials and sources said.
      unquote

the Malaysian staff at the airport would have no suspicions whatsoever if the men using those passports were Asian looking?

  3. OK, there is a hole in my argument. But if it is found out the plane suffered an explosion, I will stick to my theory that it was Muslims who blew it up. European looking Muslims I guess.

    1. On that I can agree ... European looking men who can be from North Africa or any one of the Arabic countries. All that's required is a light skin.
